It is in Rome that the keys to the deepest meanings of human life are kept, the keys to the doors of our memory, our self-understanding, and our most cherished goals. It could be said that we are all heirs to the Roman idea: in our ideas about politics, our notions of power and order, our understanding of the importance of art and faith, our education and culture, our defining models of mystical experience, and our fundamental ideals of life.

In this regard, we are all Romans, citizens of the City and the World. Our journey to Rome, visiting its most important sites, is a path to self-knowledge and inner peace. It is a journey in search of meaning and new discoveries about ourselves.

In this workshop, we will:

  • find out about the main stages of Rome's formation and development, about the Vatican, and its role as the most important center of human history.

  • discover the reasons and factors that made Rome the world's spiritual capital and the key meanings that arose there: ideas of politics, philosophy, art, and the Christian faith. discover how the main narratives about the Eternal City were born and who created them.

  • understand the role and significance of art in understanding the fundamental meanings of human life.

  • learn to construct a holistic image of Rome's history and myth, and to synthesize observations and knowledge into our own worldview.
